The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently announced their new $7 billion Solar For All Program, apart of the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF). Solar For All aims to target 900,000 low income homes and create solar energy for these households.
Specifically, The 60 awardees of the Solar For All program include 49 states, 6 tribes, and 5 multistate programs to be expanded or generated. The complete list of these awardees and their award amount can be found here. Following the Solar For All Program announcement, EPA Administrator Micheal S. Reagan stated, “The selectees will advance solar energy initiatives across the country, creating hundreds of thousands of good-paying jobs, saving $8 billion in energy costs for families, delivering cleaner air, and combating climate change.”
Overall, The Solar For All Program has potential to help many low income American’s gain access to solar energy. This program is a part of the Biden Administration’s Investing in America agenda through the GGRF. One goal is to achieve a carbon pollution free power sector by 2035 and a net-zero emission economy before 2050. The Solar For All Program is a step in the right direction for an environmentally friendly lifestyle for all Americans.
